Feline Celebration, Victorian Style

Milestone

A huge thank you for lifting this campaign past the $200,000 milestone, which is impressive because of the lack of extravagant pledge levels. A more significant and endearing milestone is that 5,348 of you are supporting the project. I am truly humbled.

Plans for this Week

  •  Guest Designer Promotional Tile: This may be revealed today, at the latest tomorrow.
  •  Solo Playthrough from Yours Truly (without incoherence and cheating): Shooting for Wednesday (pun intended).
  •  Major Co-Op Reveal and News: Hoping for Friday.

Increasing Pledges and the Pledge Manager

There is a FAQ, but I am bumping this up. All orders for more than 1 will be possible in the pledge manager. So if you want a second set of coins or to order a game for a friend, you will be able to do it there and at the Kickstarter rate. There will be no game discounts for larger orders (due to the heavy discounting), but there will be shipping discounts. I don't know what those discounts will be (there are just too many variables), but I will be transparent and fair about the rates.

Customs and VAT

I have a conference call tomorrow to do a deep dive on this fun issue. To date, I have simply stated that these fees would be collected in the pledge manager. I will be getting maximum detail tomorrow, so you will have more information (and be able to cancel your pledge if you find it too much). I stand by my commitment that I will be helping out in some fashion with these expenses.

Thank you again!

Carriage Voting Results
over 2 years ago – Sat, Oct 21, 2023 at 09:54:16 AM

Well, that was something. Votes poured into the comments, my email, my phone—all kinds of passion! Enough to startle the fur off a cat.

This was a rapid count, which serves our purposes. There will be no hanging chads here! And I fibbed a little. There is also no pure democracy here. But before I make my case, let's look at the raw numbers (total votes 640):

Even though purple won our straw poll, I am going to choose #5.  Why?

  • There are three options in the yellow/gold family, which spilt the vote. Forty-nine percent of the total (312) is in the yellow/gold world. If I had three shades of purple in the poll, that vote would have been split.
  • I am persuaded by the argument that we have a prominent game component that is purple: prestige tiles (along with the dice and bags and lady's maid). We have no significant yellow/gold component (until we get our coins!).
  • I also acknowledge the historical accuracy of black, but I just do not want a somber carriage. My eccentric dowager is...well, eccentric, and she doesn't like black or too many other stylistic conventions.

I am requesting samples and will report back! Thank you for the enthusiasm.

I will now hunch down and peek out my bay window to see if any purple people eaters are coming...

Carriage Chaos
over 2 years ago – Thu, Oct 19, 2023 at 03:02:01 PM

I created chaos that produced references to mayonnaise, In-N-Out, 7 or 8 brands of mustard, and a snappy Sabret dog.

Let's increase our options and put it to a vote.

I have taken many of the recommendations and sampled specific examples. Note that the 'metallic' is more of a finish than a colour (#1 is a sample of the Meeplesource metallic gold). No amount of sampling Five Tribes or Meeplesource metallic gold gets you a metallic render. So I have to ask Panda about that.

VOTE.

Vote #7 if you want NO CHANGE!

Thank you!

Carriage and Coney Dogs
over 2 years ago – Thu, Oct 19, 2023 at 11:03:26 AM

I have not been happy with the colour of the Dowager's Carriage. It looks like Gulden's mustard. Panda and I have gone back and forth with different pantones (they say GOLD this and GOLD that), and I keep getting bland mustard. All this mustard talk makes me want to have a coney dog when I look at my Carriage, but there is no food further from the Dowager's palate than a coney dog (which is shame, because...coney dog).

So I had an inspiration. I run to my Terra Mystica box and pull out the GOLD player pieces. Panda makes this game, I think, and viola! we can triangulate the pantone and thus make the Dowager's carriage a more respectable colour.

Thoughts?
